In 2005, representatives from the Virginia Beach SPCA met with the city of Virginia Beach to assist in a plan to address the burdgeoning waterfowl populations and the resulting problems at local parks. Several humane approaches to population reduction were reviewed. Most recently, we submitted proposals for implementing a humane birth control program for waterfowl using the EPA approved product Ovocontrol G.

We are pleased to announce that the city of Virginia Beach will be launching a Don’t Feed the Ducks & Geese Initiative. This initiative will be introduced through an educational open house between 12 noon and 3 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Mount Trashmore. Please consider stopping by to support this effort. Our representatives will be on site to answer any questions. Our Volunteer Coordinator will also be there if you are interested in volunteering.
